When you first pull into Oak Hill Raceway for the first time your jaw will drop. Immediately after a sign that reads"Everything's Bigger in Texas" you go down a long driveway with several flags towering over you. You don't feel like you are at a local MX race but instead at a Des Nations race. The facilities and the track are very much like the entrance. Parking is available on every side of the track and so is viewing. Even though the lap times are well over 2 minutes for most riders it is possible for spectators to see almost 100% of the track from any viewing area.
As a rider you will love the multiple combination's that can be done in each section. Most corners, jumps and obstacles have a variety of line to select from and different patterns of how you think they can be done the fastest.
If you like going fast, having sweeping turns, multiple lines, big yet safe jumps, large braking bumps and deep ruts you will also give this track a 5 star rating.
Oak Hill is extremely organized and has several amenities including a skate park, basket ball courts, electric & water for RV's (no sewage), several tracks beyond the main race track and on site food.
The sand at Oak Hill is very deceiving - it looks like it'll dry out quick but is at times very hard and holds moisture. This was an area that we struggled in as gearing and tire selection are very important. However, the crew at Oak Hill does a great job of maintaining the track as needed. As soon as the ruts get a little too deep or the track dries out too much races are put on hold so that the sections can be fixed.
While some jumps are big & the whoops are too riders can opt for the smaller combination - making sure that the difficulty is determined by the riders skill. Keeping it equally challenging for both slower and faster riders
It's very rare that such a difficult track can get a high safety rating but Oak hill does it right. They make the obstacles difficult but also make them safe and they keep the track ready to ride.
Just outside of Dallas the track is in a great location on the side of a subtly hill which creates great racing.
Prices are on par with other tracks - however the value is very high because of everything that is at the track that you don't normally get.
